Edge of Frame at LIAF 2018

Still from The Grand Bizarre (2018) by Jodie Mack

Edge of Frame returns to London International Animation Festival for the third year running with three essential programmes of experimental animation, featuring work dating from 1959 to 2018, from radical pioneers to contemporary masters. This year it is a real honour to welcome experimental animator Jodie Mack to London for two programmes of her incredible works. Jodie is one of the most exciting, inspiring and prolific artist animators working today, and it is a great pleasure to be showing both a programme of her critically acclaimed shorts and the UK premiere of her highly anticipated new feature The Grand Bizarre. Jodie will be present to introduce these very special screenings, which are presented in partnership with Close-Up, a veritable miracle of a venue who keep experimental cinema alive with their unrivalled year-round programme of extraordinary cinematic offerings. To complement the unmissable Jodie Mack double bill, Edge of Frame presents Material Fragments, a selection of experimental animations exploring diverse approaches to collage and cut-out animation. Materials such as clothing, books, film footage and plants are seen anew through tactile processes of animation, revealing hidden stories, new connections and dazzling patterns. This programme features works by Janie Geiser, Robert Breer, Jane Conger Belson Shimane, John Latham and many more.
